A mobile farmer's market for Asheville

Buncombe County government donated an old van, one of those types that transports the elderly to doctor’s offices, to Asheville’s Bountiful Cities Project, one of my favorite Southern community garden projects. Bountiful Cities hopes to use the van as a mobile farmer’s market.

In similar news, there is a possibility that the Athens Urban Food Collective (AUFC), a university student learning class that I’m involved with, will be producing food on the Geography/Geology building’s roof and offering it to the local mobile food bank for distribution throughout the community. Currently, the food bank doesn’t offer much fresh food on its delivery truck, so maybe the AUFC can help can increase the amounts of fresh veg given out to hungry folks.

No promises. We’ll be voting on what to do with the produce grown on the roof soon, and there are many options on the table.

I’ll let y’all know.
