Short update on the video documentary

After two planned events were rained out, I finally got to shoot some video for the Newtown video project. On Monday, we visited UGA’s Land Use Clinic and interviewed managing attorney Jamie Baker Roskie about the clinic’s work in the Gainseville area. Previously, I was unaware of the clinic’s involvement in Newtown, but  our story has taken a shift from an overview of environmental justice issues in Newtown  to focusing on the scrapyard, and the clinic is at the forefront of the community’s attempts to address the noise pollution, among other concerns, emanating from the site. I’d love to get into the details of what she said, but the project is moving very slow and I haven’t even reviewed the tapes.

The project is on hold for a few weeks, as my video partner has left the country. But I plan to get at least one day of shooting in while he is away.

Stay tuned.
