Neither Big Nor Tall is the personal, multi-beat blog of Andre Gallant, a freelance writer, carpenter, activist and gardener based in Athens, Ga.
While following events around the country and the world, NBNT tries to focus on specific scales – Clarke County, Athens, Chase St., West Hancock.
Within that local framework, there will be posts about craft, construction, compost, design, journalism, little missives from the garden, urban agriculture and happenings within my community. There are posts that follow the research and creative processes of the academic and construction projects that I’m working on, as well as the food/gardening issues I’m concerned about. Basically, I write about how I spend my workday, my free time, and the brief instances where they overlap.
I frequently write for Flagpole Magazine, a 17,000 circulation arts and culture weekly, covering business, government, agriculture and some of the town’s quirkier elements. I’m also working on a documentary short about the Newtown neighborhood in Gainseville, Ga. In my spare time, I’m slowly documenting local farms, community gardens and food activism in the Athens, Ga. area using multimedia (print, photo, video). And trying to fix up my 80-year-old house.

You are a 21st century “robin hood”. love your informative reporter approach.Love the blogs and love your “tool” (wrench/metal) within the plant (living/green) logo…yes technology and environmental concerns do and must go hand in hand. My basic wish for everyone is that they, through education and personal ambition, can have the life style of their choice not dictated by any politic, sex, religion, or race. Many will have to rise above their geography, their past, their friends, and their own family and faith.

Dude, after rereading my last comment, I want to clarify that never having seen your “tool”, I was strickly talking about your Logo and not your….oh damnit..you know what i mean…..Carry on the good work, your truth rings true even with this “small government” republican/libertarian.

I enjoyed meeting you in Valerie Boyd’s class, and thanks for letting me know about this blog. It’s so good, so useful, so positive and encouraging — I’ve already learned a couple of things in the few minutes I’ve spent here. I’ll be back.
